Check Accessibility Of a Website In Every Countries

If you are a webmaster, it is important to make sure your site is accessible in all countries. Some countries are notorious to filter websites which they believe to have content against their national interests. This tutorial introduces a handful of online tools which test the availability of a domain in various countries. Most of these tools are free to use. These tools also help you to find out the domain status like whether the website is up or down in case if you are facing issues to load it on your computer. Now let us check the tools.

  1. Watch Mouse

  2. Just Ping

  3. Website Pulse

Let us examine the working of them with examples.

  1.  Watch Mouse

    Watch Mouse is a free online tool which connects with different workstations located in the major countries. Watch Mouse is working on the basis of ping reply from a website, send from workstations in various countries. Watch Mouse cannot tell the exact status of a website which disabled the ping reply feature. The output of the ping operation done by Watch Mouse looks like;

    The link address of Watch Mouse is:   http://www.watchmouse.com

    In addition to th status check, Watch Mouse is providing some more tools to check the vulnerability of the web server, load test etc.

  2. Website Test behind the Great Firewall of China by Website Pulse

    It is an advanced tool compared to 'Watch Mouse' and 'Just Ping'. Website Pulse connects to your site and download the complete HTML web page. The total response time shows, how long it takes to download the website. Let us check the availability of a blog in China using this service. The connection test from Shanghai and Seattle is listed. Out put of the test looks like below.

    You can use this service to test websites which blocked ping reply. The link address of Website Pulse is: http://www.websitepulse.com

  3. Just Ping

    They have computers on major parts of the world and the domain address will be pinged from all these PCs. If the ICMP request cannot find reply, this tool notices the unavailability of the site at that region. Web address to access this facility is: http://www.just-ping.com

    Negative side

    Just like 'Watch Mouse', this service also treats a blog with blocked ping request as unavailable. So if one webmaster disabled the ping reply feature as the part of security, only 'Website Pulse' can be used to tested his sites. The following image shows the working of this facility.

Access Blocked Website Even If Domain and IP Are Blacklisted

If you are working behind a corporate firewall, most of your favorite websites might be blocked. It is true for offices, schools or colleges where even the domain name and IP address are blacklisted to prevent students and staff from going to certain websites like Facebook, Twitter, Naukri, PayPal etc. Another genuine need to access blocked websites is when a domain name is blacklisted by Internet Service Provider without user permission and the technical support is unable to unlock the ban. For a normal user, proxy software is enough to bypass the firewall block but think of a situation where you cannot use a proxy because either you do not have enough privilege to install proxy application or all available web based proxy servers are banned. It is really a frustrating situation. You do not need to worry even if proxy fails, there is another method to bypass the restriction even if the desired domain name and website IP address are blocked.

Steps to Access blocked Domain
  1. Use Tor

    This is my first suggestion and if you are unable to use this tool, then proceed to second step.
    Tor- The Best Free Anonymous Proxy Software

  2. Convert IP to Decimal Format

    We can use the decimal sum of a domain IP address to access it by bypassing the college or office firewall. Since the procedure is a little bit tricky, I will explain it with the help of an example. Here I am going to access Google on my computer using this trick.

    • Find IP Address of banned domain

      Before proceeding you must learn the IP address of the banned website. You can find it by following the steps below on a computer which is not protected by the firewall. Here Google is the domain I want to access.
      1. Open Command Prompt

      2. Type ping google.com and press enter
        Ping banned

        Write down the address.

    • Covert the Decimal form of IP Address to Binary

      You can use a scientific calculator if you find it difficult.

      Here the IP address of Google is 74.125.45.100 and it will be converted to the set of octets.

      74 = 01001010

      125 = 01111101

      45 = 00101101

      100= 01100100

      Please make sure that it is a set of octets by adding 0 in front of the binary number where it cannot match 8 bits.

      So finally 74.125.45.100 will become;

      01001010.01111101.00101101.01100100
      Calculator

    • Take the sum of total

      To perform this step we need to remove the dots between the octets. Binary number will look like:

      01001010011111010010110101100100

      After conversion we get 1249717604

    • Type the decimal number on the address bar

      Now we need to type the decimal number on the address bar of Internet Explorer as in the format http://1249717604 and it will be redirected to Google.com.

  3. Web Proxy

    You can try the links provided in the tutorial and may be you may find one which is not yet banned.

How to Access Blocked Websites Through Mowser

There are so many restrictions to access Internet in schools, colleges, working places etc as the part of their Internet security policies. It is not rare, they may even stop us from accessing very important websites due to configuration mistakes or stringent policies.We can access blocked websites through proxies but this article tells a different method to bypass the firewall restriction. Most firewall products do not block mobile version of websites and we can use this advantage to access blocked websites at work places. One online service which lets us load any website in mobile format is Mowser.

We can use Mowser without knowing ay technical knowledge. All you have to do is access mowser and type the website URL you want to convert to mobile version. The link to access Mowser is:

How to Solve Destination Net Unreachable - Ping Error Message

In this tutorial we discuss another important ICMP error message Destination Net Unreachable. The ICMP error message Destination Net Unreachable tells, the ping request from your computer failed to find the route to the destination network. When you ping to an IP address from your computer, ping packet goes to default gateway. It is the duty of default gateway to send ping packet to the correct destination. However, if default gateway does not know the path to desired network, your computer will get "Destination net Unreachable" message. This can happen in two cases:
  • If the route to specific network is down
  • No such network address is listed in default gateway's routing table

Facing Slower Internet Speed ? You May Try it!

What ever the reason if the default gateway cannot find a route to the destination network, you will get following reply as ping reply. The following reply received when I ping to the global DNS address.

Destination Host Unreachable - Reasons and Solutions

The error message "Destination Host Unreachable " tells that the ping request from our computer cannot find the route to the destination IP address(destination host). It means the Packet send from your computer reached the destination network successfully but the remote gateway failed to find the destination host. So the remote gateway sends an Echo message Destination host unreachable. One major possibility for this error is there is no route listed in the remote gateway, for the packet send from your computer, to destination host. If there is no route available, it is impossible to find the destination host and your computer will receive an error message "Destination host unreachable" from remote gateway. So one of the reason for this can be faulty routing table. If the destination host is down at the time the packet send, it may result destination host unreachable error message.

Home Made Tricks To Improve Broadband Speed

You may get Destination Host Unreachable message even if you ping to a host in the same subnet. When you ping to a host in the same subnet, your computer sends an ARP request for the MAC address of the destination host. If the host does not exit, you will get destination host unreachable message. It is because without completing ARP request, ICMP echo cannot be sent. So here I conclude all possible reasons for Destination host unreachable error message with possible troubleshooting steps.
ICMP error message Destination Host Unreachable

Reasons to Get  Destination Host Unreachable Message

  1. The ping packet find the destination network but failed to find the destination host
  2. Packet Routing issue on Remote gateway
  3. Destination host might be down
  4. Connection issues

When I ping to an IP address in a different network, ping packets reach default gateway. My default gateway sends the packet to remote gateway. So ping packet finally reaches the remote network. However, if the remote gateway failed to find the remote host, it will send an echo Destination host unreachable.

How to Resolve Destination Host Unreachable

The possible fix for the ICMP error message "Destination Host Unreachable" :
  1. Make sure that local host is configured correctly
  2. Make sure Destination Computer/Device is up
  3. Disable the Firewall and check for the issue
  4. Perform a tracert to the destination IP and check where the problem lies

How to Connect Multiple Routers in Your Wireless Network

I believe you have read my previous article about cascading two routers. This is an extension of that article where I am presenting a method to connect multiple wireless routers in your network. In case if you are looking for a way to extend your home network to share a common Internet connection or for file sharing facility, this guide can help you. Here you can see adding any number of (with a limit of course) routers to an existing computer network is not a big task. For beginners connecting three or more routers may look like difficult task but actually it is very simple as changing the third octet of the Router's IP address. For example consider the IP address 192.168.1.5, here the 3rd octet is 1. So let us start our guide on how to connect multiple routers to share common Internet connection.

Here I assume the network layout is

Modem---->Router 1----Router 2--->Router 3---Router 4

and the modem IP address is 192.168.0.1

Steps to Add Router-1 in the Network

  1. Connect your Computer to Router 1 using an Ethernet Cable:

    Note: LAN Port of the Router-1 should be connected to the LAN Port of computer using an Ethernet cable.

    How to connect three routers together

    Ethernet Port is marked on the above image.
  2. Power on router (Computer too !!!) and wait for 30 seconds
  3. Login Router 1: To know how to find login IP address of Router 1, please follow the steps mentioned in the link below.
    How to Find Log in IP Address of a Router
  4. Change the Router 1 IP address to 192.168.1.1

    The DHCP server should be enabled. After Changing the router-1 IP address we need to save the settings.

    Configure router 1 for multi-cascading
  5. Disconnect the router 1 from your computer.

Configure Router 2 for multiple Router Cascading

  1. Login Router 2
  2. Change Router 2 IP address to 192.168.2.1

    DHCP server of Router-2 should be enabled.
    How to connect a new router in existing home network

Setup 3rd for Multiple router cascading

  1. Login Router-3
  2. Change IP address of Router-3 to 192.168.3.1
    Enable DHCP
    Configure the 3rd router in the network

Configure 4th Router for Multiple Router Cascading

  1. Log in Router-4
  2. Change IP address of Router-4 to 192.168.4.1
  3. Make sure DHCP is enabled

How to Connect Multiple Routers in a Network

The points in connecting all these routers in a network are:
  1. Connect LAN port of Modem to WAN(Internet)port of 1st Router
  2. Connect the WAN Port of 2nd Router to one LAN port of the First Router using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Connect the WAN Port of 3rd Router to LAN port of the 2nd Router using an Ethernet cable
