How to Preserve my Important Data for Future - Which format suit better

Today I read one tech article which says some new ideas to keep our important data files for future. Author worried much about the safety of his documents and doubts whether they will be readable after 50 years. 50 years seems to be a long period when we consider the quality of optical storage media. I do not think our DVDs and CDs will last 50 years (may be better technology will come soon). I cannot trust my pen drives, hard disks or my backup CDs. None will last 50 years (my personal opinion as I am not an expert). So where should I store my important files ?

Let us forget the storage media and start think about the format. How many of today's popular formats will be here after 50 years ? May be none of today's formats will be there at that time. So if I some how preserve my documents in some storage media, which software will help me to open it ? How do I know MS office is there after 50 years. How can I trust the formats which are supported by a single company? So I too come to the same conclusion like the author of the specific tech article. Keep our important documents in different storage media in multiple formats. I should keep one copy of data in open standards. Open standards have a chance to survive more than the proprietary formats. Now what about the storage media ? Storing your documents in online storage can loose your physical touch with the files. In addition to this you need to blindly believe the company who provide this service. Though it is risky, right now we don't have much options left.

Latest Update on Intel's acquisition of McAfee

As we know, this year has some major news in technology world. My Blogger blog with custom domain is not opening in India

Yesterday night I shocked to know that my blog is not opening. I tried the URL directly on the address bar but still my blog is not coming and it showed my browser is waiting for my blog. First I thought it was just my issue (may be my laptop) and I never took it seriously. Today morning some of my friends call me and asked what happen to your blog as they are not able to open it. So I tried to open my blog in my desktop computer but the same problem persist. As you know my blog is a blogger blog with custom domain so I search in Google to find whether this is an issue for just my blog or a common issue. I found following thread in Google support and the issue is allover in India.

Many blogs with custom domain are not opening in India. In order to confirm this issue I tried a proxy and verify it is working perfectly in other countries. So I wonder what is the problem with this Indian networks?

Before configuring your Linksys E1000 Wireless N Router, you need to connect it to your computer using an Ethernet cable. You should connect Router's LAN port to computer's Ethernet port. After this make sure both devices are on.


1. Type 192.168.1.1 on the address bar of your web browser

Now you will be prompted for login details.



2. Enter login details of Linksys E1000 Wireless N Router

User Name: (it should be blank)
Password : admin

After entering the details click OK. Now you will be in on the web based setup page of Linksys E1000 Wireless N Router.



Configure Internet Connection

Following options are available in Linksys E1000 Wireless N Router to configure Internet.

1. Automatic Configuration - DHCP
2. Static IP
3. PPPoE
4. PPTP
5. L2TP

Now US is Officially Enjoying 4G Technology

On December 6th International Telecommunication Union (ITU) agreed to declare the communication giants in USA are using 4G technology. So now onwards Verizon's LTE and Sprint's WiMax networks are officially 4G without having any changes in their current technology. It seems to contradicting the previous stand of ITU where they just considered WiMax and LTE as "not exactly 4G".

It seems More Restrictions will come for Pirate sites

We can see how the main stream entertainment companies are affected by services which offer the free movement of pirated movies, songs etc using peer to peer services. I think most of the Internet users are at-least aware of this and many of them utilized this feature to download their favorite movies, games, mp3 files etc. Any way now it seems things going to be changed by the new movements of major entertainment companies and a few US senators. They successfully introduced an antipiracy bill in US Senate and it gives huge authority to handle websites which provide pirated contents and data. This bill give enough power to shut down domains (US based) which provide pirated data. Another power is to order ads and financial companies to stop their cooperation which websites which promote piracy. It may affect major ads companies like MasterCard, Visa, and American Express and they should be forced to stop their financial cooperation with those websites.

Recent update is about MasterCard. They are willing to stop processing transactions for the websites which promote piracy. Most of these websites offer premium service to its users and users are paying services fee via MasterCard or Visa. If these companies refused to continue their services that may reduce the number of subscriptions. This is what the leaders of new movement expect. Any way let us wait and watch who will win the game at last.

Enable Google SafeSearch For Firerfox permanently - Chrome , Internet Explorer , Opera

Now it will show you a message "Locking SafeSearch across all Google domains". When the process finished you will see following message.

"SafeSearch is locked across all Google domains"




Now onwards when you search on Google, you will see following symbol.



It will work even if you log out from your Google account.
