Hidden Script On Older Blog Posts "input id="jsProxy" onclick=jsCall("

Occasionally I spend time to review older articles on CoreNetworkZ.com to ensure the quality and reliability. As a technology blog, it is important to ensure the reliability of the older articles and always update them if the articles have outdated information. This time while updating one older tutorial on my blog, I found a hidden script at the end of the post. Since I made the article very long before, I couldn't remember much about it but I am sure I didn't put the code. I made a research about it and find following information. I think it is better share the details with my readers and it may help you in case you too face the issue. The hidden script found on my older blog post is:

<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden" /><!--Session data--><input id="jsProxy" onclick="jsCall();" type="hidden" />

Reasons to Have This Script

Many users complained to have this code on their websites in different platforms like Blogger, WordPress, Joomla etc. So it is not because of having one particular blogging software but an entirely different reason. Most of the discussions explain a Firefox add-on named "browser highlighter" as the culprit. Since that post was composed very long back, I cannot remember whether I used that add-on at that time.

I do not think this script is an infection because my blog is not blocked on browsers or never informed of infection in Google webmaster tools. If this code is a part of virus infection, I will get malware infection warning from Webmaster tools account. However, I don't feel safe to have it on my blog and now my first priority is to check every published posts and delete the script if it is there. I strongly recommend you to check your older blog posts and verify this script is not there.

How to Prevent This Script Appear On Your Blog

It is important to use latest version of web browsers to avoid issues like this. It is equally important to not install any suspicious add-on on your browser. I believe I must has some add-ons installed on my browser and that made this issue. Now I am very careful about it and updating the browsers whenever they have updates. It is always better to perform a full system scan on your PC using a reputed security software once a week.
