@ Anuradha Rani

SSC accepts degree from any universities approved by UGC (University Grants Commission). Punjab Technical university (PTU) is approved by UGC. So any degree offered by PTU is valid to SSC and degree holders from PTU can apply for SSC CGL examination conducted to recruit CBI Sub Inspectors. You can check the list of State Universities in Punjab approved by UGC from the link below.

http://www.ugc.ac.in/stateuniversitylist.aspx?id=28&Unitype=2

Now the second part of your question. Since you are doing off campus degree from PTU in Distance Education mode, it is important to know whether PTU Distance Education is approved by Distance Education Council. Even though any Distance Education degree from UGC approved Universities is equal to regular degree, it is better the distance education program is approved by Distance Education Council. I couldn't find the latest list of approved universities offer distance education mode, so I recommend you to contact PTU enquiry department to verify it. Toll free number to call PTU DE is 1800 266 2501 and make sure you call between 9 am to 5pm. You may also go through the university website.

SSC will publish rank list based on the performance on different tiers of written tests. SSC will intimate you about your selection, based on our preference you gave while applying for exam, if you have higher rank enough to be selected for SI vacancy in CBI.

Usually you will get alerts by SMS or E-mail from SSC about the procedure to collect your appointment letter.

Since your degree is from a foreign country, you may be asked to produce an equivalence certificate from a recognized University in India. If you can produce an equivalence certificate for your degree from a UGC approved University, you won't face any issue on applying for CBI SI post.

@P K Tiwari

Since you have your degree from SMU DE, you must ensure that the degree you earned is approved by UGC and Distance Education Council.

Sikkim Manipal University is approved as a Private University by UGC.

BPP from ignou stands for Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme which is not equivalent to degree. So those having only BPP from IGNOU without having degree cannot apply for CBI Sub Inspector post.

After having 12th you should take degree from any recognized universities to become apply for SSC CGL examination.

@Shantanu Singh

To apply for SSC CGL examination, you need to get degree first. So you cannot apply unless you have passed every papers.

@ jamuna bharathi
Once your son starts his degree, ask him to read books related to SSC CGL. If you can afford, tell him to join one reputed SSC training institute near your area. It is important to read News Papers regularly to pass any competitive examinations conducted by SSC and UPSC.

@ Sachin Vadkar

To apply for Officer posts in CBI or other police forces in India, you must have a degree. So you cannot apply for SSC CGL examination.

SSC CHSL is one of the best suited for those do not have degree (anyone has pass in plus two or equivalent can apply) but its upper age limit for general category is 27. You should also start looking for state PSC examinations which suited for your qualification. Another opportunity is public sector companies which recruit diploma engineers.

@ Sachin Vadkar

Public Service Commission (PSC) is a constitutional body which is responsible for the recruitment of state government employees. To apply for jobs selected by state PSC, you must register with official PSC website (of your state) and start looking for new entries in notifications sections every week. PSC will update its all recruitment notifications on their official website. So you won't miss any of them.

@ akruthi edla

You must have a valid degree at the time of SSC CGL notification. Since you are waiting for your results, I am afraid you cannot apply this time.

@ SYED SHOEB

Diploma in mechanical engineering is not enough to apply for SSC CGL or UPSC (group A) examinations. You must have a degree ( if in Engineering, you must have BE/ B.Tech) to apply for both SSC CGL or other group A service examinations.
