NYC DCAS Emergency Medical Specialist Free Mock Test

George Renard, the senior NYC Civil Service Tutor at CoreNetworkZ EdTech Solutions, prepared this free mock test with assistance from Lizz Mathew, an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Sean Bernstein. Sean has a background in psychology and develops questions and answers on logical and analytical reasoning, situational judgment, clerical accuracy, attention to detail, and reading comprehension.

This mock test covers topics such as EMT knowledge and skills, EMS Operations and Procedures, and New York State EMT-Basic requirements. Questions from Patient assessment and medical emergencies, trauma and cardiovascular emergencies, Scene safety, communication, infection control, etc.

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and one of the following

   • Six months of full-time satisfactory employment demonstrating reliable work habits, or

   • Full-time U.S. military service with an honorable discharge; or

   • Successful completion of 15 semester credits from an accredited college or university, or

2. Graduation after completion of FDNY approved Emergency Medical Services coursework at a New York City High School or Vocational training Center.
