How to add a Program to Start Menu or Taskbar in Windows 7

In Windows 7, it is very simple to add any program or files to system start menu or taskbar. You can add them to start menu or task bar by using the feature 'Pin to' . To pin any files or program short cuts , you just need to right click on it. On right click menu, you can see the options "Pin to Start Menu and Pin to Taskbar'. In the same way you can remove any program short cuts from Windows 7 start menu and taskbar. You just need to right click on the program short cut (in Start menu or Task bar) and unpin the program.

To add any program or file in Start menu or Taskbar in Windows 7 follow the steps below.


1. Right click on the program short cut or file



To add this program shortcut to Windows 7 start menu, you should click on Pin to Start Menu. If you need to add this program in Windows 7 Taskbar, you should click on Pin to Taskbar. Now the program shortcut will be added to respective locations.

Blogger Stats - Integrated Traffic analysis feature by Blogger team

If you are a blogspot blogger, you may notice that there is an inbuilt traffic analysis feature added in blogger control panel. Traditional method to check the traffic statistics of a blog is installing Google analytics code in your blogger template and login to Google analytics to check the exact traffic to your Blog. Anyway now we don't need to login Google analytics account to check the traffic to your blogger blog. In blogger dashboard itself there is a blogger traffic statics tool added. It is an inbuilt tool by blogger team and we don't need to install any additional code. So here I am presenting the steps to check your blogger traffic statistics using blogger stats.

Enable Blogger Stats in your blogger blog

To enable blogger stats in blogger dashboard:

1. Login to your blogger account

Now on the blogger dashboard you can see the following menu.




After enabling the blogger stats you can see an additional tab here.

2. Now on click on Blogger in Draft under Tools and Resources

After this you can see one more tab in Blogger top tabs - Stats.



Now if you need to check the real time traffic statics to your blog, you may click on Stats tab. You can the traffic count from each country with details of which posts they visit etc.

Hackers exploit the autofill feature of Browsers -security warning

There is a warning from certain security professionals against blindly enabling autofill feature in browsers. In some recent texts conducted by web security professionals, they found some well known browsers are vulnerable to the exploitation of autofill feature to fetch user data without user permission. How the autofill feature is a security fault or how hackers can use this feature to get user name and password ? It is a simple procedure as below.

3. Simulate keystroke using script


Unfortunately auto-fill feature may fill data to the field. Research conducted in Apple Safari. Apple responded to this issue with following comment "We take security and privacy very seriously. We're aware of the issue and working on a fix,". Google already state ,their popular web browser Chrome doesn't have this vulnerability and safe to use.

New Google Image Search Search - Improved Image Search

Google launched a new look for it image search. The new Google image search is more eye catchy compared to the traditional Google image search. One of the major difference between old image search and new image search is the number of images loaded in the single window. Many took this advantage to avoid the expenses and headache of hiring a server for their wordpress blogs. Like saying one rotten apple ruin the entire barrel, one irresponsible user misused this opportunity and ended in complete shutdown of the entire server.

Now if we go to Blogetery.com, we can see the below message instead of displaying their website.

They hosted their blogs in BurstNet and according to BBC news there were 70,000 bloggers using this service to host their blogs. Founder of Blogetery.com is saying they didn't get any prior notice from BurstNet about the content issues. Without any prior notice they terminate the service. Another issue according to Blogetery is 'BurstNet is not ready to give the backup'. BurstNet says "The posted material, in addition to potentially inciting dangerous activities, specifically violated the BurstNet acceptable use policy".

How to find Login IP Address of a Router or Modem

Till now I have completed many router configuration tutorials. In every tutorial I am writing steps to log on to the router before start configuring it. Here what I am planning is to write a complete guide for steps to login to any router irrespective of manufacturers and providers. Hope this will be useful for my readers. First step we need to find out before start configuring our router/ modem is to find the IP address of that device. It is because in order to log in to the router/Modem we need to know the IP address of the device. Even if you don't have your router manual where the login IP is present, you can simply follow the steps below to find your router login IP address.

Steps to discover Log-in IP address of your Router

To find the login IP address of your router:

1. Connect Router/ Modem to the computer and power on the device

2. On command prompt Type ipconfig

In order to open command prompt in any driver click on the link below.

Open Command prompt in any directory



Check the default gateway address shown in your command prompt. It is the configured IP address of your router which is connected to your computer. If you need to log in to this router, you can simply type the IP address shown in the command prompt(Default Gateway) on the address bar of your web browser and press enter. Now it will ask you the user name and password to enter. In default settings it will be the configuration of admin.


Scenario :1

User Name : admin
Password : admin

Scenario :2

User Name :
Password : admin

Scenario :3

User Name : admin
Password :


You can use either one of the above user name and password combination to log on to your router.

Remove unwanted Startup Programs from Windows 7

Some times you may need to remove certain unwanted Startup Programs from your Windows 7 computer. It is because having somany startup programs may reduce your system bootup speed and efficiency. We can remove any programs from appearing in Windows startup menu by removing them from msconfig startup window.

Change Windows 7 Startup Applications

In order to change applications which appear in Windows 7 startup, follow the steps below.

1. Click on Windows start

2. On search type msconfig and press enter

Now Windows 7 system configuration window will come.



3. Click on startup tab


4. Uncheck unwated programs

The unchecked programs will not appear in Windows startup again. After unchecking the applications while saving it you may need to restart your computer.

How to Start WLAN Autoconfig in Windows 7 and Vista Computer

In Windows 7 computers we cannot find Wireless Zero Configuration to manage your wireless network. It is removed from the introduction of Windows Vista. In Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers Wireless networks are managed by WLAN Autoconfig. You can find WLAN Autoconfig in services window. If you are not using any other wireless utility to manage your Wireless networks, Windows 7 use its default wireless management utility called WLAN Autoconfig. By starting WLAN Autoconfig in Windows 7 itself will fix majority of wireless connectivity issues in Windows 7 and Vista.

Configure Wireless In Netopia 3347 Wi-Fi Router - Enable Security

Configure Wireless in Netopia Router

Steps to configure wireless settings in Netopia WiFi router are:


1. Log on to Netopia Wireless Router

Type telnet 192.168.1.1 on Run Command and press OK.



From the menu select System Configuration.

2. Select Wireless Configuration from Netopia System Configuration


3. Wireless LAN Configuration in Netopia Router

You should make sure that Wireless is enabled. SSID is the Wireless network name (Eg: corenetworkz ) and it should be up to 32 characters. If you need to enable Wireless security in Netopia Router, Enable WEP should be ON.



4. Enable Wireless Security (WEP) in Netopia

If you enable WEP, you should create a wireless key for your wireless network.



After finishing this step, you should restart your wireless router. If you are facing issues with going online after installing router on your network, follow the steps below.

Setup Netopia Wi-Fi Router ( 3347) For AT&T and Other DSL Connections

Netopia Wi-Fi Business Router Model 3347 is a recommended wireless router from AT&T for its business users. To share DSL Internet connection from AT&T modem to multiple users, you can use this wireless router(some times you don't need another modem depends on the settings from your DSL provider). Configuration of Netopia Wi-Fi router (Model 3347) is via telnet connection (not by the normal browser based configuration). So to Setup Netopia wireless router , you should have a telnet software running on your computer.


Start Telnet connection to Netopia wireless router

First connect your computer to the LAN port of the Netopia router using an Ethernet cable and power on the router. If you are using a Windows computer, it is easy to access Netopia router using telnet connection. Follow the steps below to access the Netopia router setup page.

1. Click on Start

2. On Run Command type telnet 192.168.1.1

If you are using Windows 7 computer, you may need to enable run command in start menu.

3. Now the Netopia telnet logon window will be opened.

Setup Netopia Wireless Router for DSL Internet connection

Now the configuration of Netopia Wireless Router is:


1. Configure DSL in Netopia Wi-Fi router

On the telnet screen you should select Easy Setup and press return to bring DSL Line configuration page in Netopia configuration menu.

[In telnet session to set change to a selected item press enter.]



Enter the VPI and VCI numbers provided from your Internet Service Provider. All other details are the default settings if your DSL provider said anything else.

2. Configure WAN and LAN IP address in Netopia Router

In this step you can change your WAN IP and LAN IP in Netopia Wireless router.


Here if you want to use NAT for Netopia router, you should make sure that Address Translation is enabled (better it is enabled if you are planning to connect multiple computers in the network.)

If you are using the dynamic IP address from your Internet Service Provider better keep WAN IP as 0.0.0.0. In the same way if you are using DHCP leave the LAN IP as 0.0.0.0

3. Local Networking in Netopia Router

Netopia router settings are:



Netopia Router Login IP :192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0


4. Enable Password protection for Netopia Router

Last step is create a password for Netopia Router to protect it from unwanted access.



Now you should restart Netopia Router. When the device is back we can start using it to share the DSL connection among multiple users.

View Saved Passwords in Opera Browser - Password recovery

There is a way to see the already saved passwords in Opera browser. As in other browsers (like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox ) Opera too ask the question whether save your password or not while entering the user name and password to login to your online accounts. If you press save button, your user name and password will be stored in Opera. Data Error - Cyclic Redundancy Check - Can't Read from Disc

Today while copying content from one of my old disc (CD) to my computer I have received the following error message "Data Error - Cyclic Redundancy Check " and copying failed. Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) is an error detecting code used to check whether the data stored in the storage device is corrupted or not.

When your computer is trying to read data from your DVD or CD (any storage device) if it found the data stored is corrupted, you will get this error message. In reality a normal scratch on the disc itself can cause this Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) error.
