Fix the Laptop Battery Alert: Consider Replacing Your Battery

Today, I saw one new notification in the Taskbar. It is a warning message: Consider replacing your battery. The description of this warning was: There is a problem with your battery, so your computer might shut down suddenly.

In addition to this error message, I see one cross mark on the power cell icon and a noticeable reduction in its life. Have a look at the screenshot of this warning alert.

To learn more about this new error, I opened Windows Mobility Center. But you know what? The same message was there.

Why Do I See a Battery Alert on My Windows Laptop?

Some of the regular readers of CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions asked why they were seeing the error message: Consider Replacing Your Battery. So, let me explain the possible reasons for the battery alert.

According to Windows 11 support, if the Power Cell works with less than 40% of its original capacity, it will show this warning. However, my experience shows three more reasons.

Now let me share the possible reasons for the warning "Consider Replacing Your Battery" here:

  1. The laptop is not Designed for the current Windows version.

  2. The power cell's full charge capacity is less than 40% of the original capacity.

  3. Wrong Power Cell Settings.

  4. BIOS error ( in reporting the charge capacity ).

Fix for "Consider Replacing Your Battery"

I have been using this laptop for more than 3 years. So, I know it is time to replace the laptop cell.

However, some of the readers of CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions reported this battery error message on new laptops. I believe the wrong laptop battery settings in Windows may be invoking false alerts about its life.

The good news is we can fix the battery error messages due to wrong settings on a new laptop.

The first step is to remove the battery from the notebook and hold the power button for one minute. It will reset the default settings. Then, insert it back and check for the issue.

Other possible solutions for the warning are:
