Set Up Etisalat Broadband WiFi Router

Welcome to the System Admin tutorial section by CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions. Today, I will discuss one popular ISP from the UAE, Etisalat.

CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions has clients from Dubai and Sharjah who use Etisalat services for office and home networks.

They often ask my opinion while changing the Internet plans and buying network devices.

So, I thought it was better to write a tutorial that covers the complete configuration of Etisalat Internet services.

Etisalat may provide different modem and router models, but the steps to configure the broadband Internet connection remain the same.

There is a reason why I am saying it. Etislat supplies modems and routers from multiple brands.

I regularly get comments like this one from Adil Hussain. He is a Civil Engineer who works in Dubai. He asked, "Hello Alex, I am going after Etislat for my office Internet connection. Can you suggest the best modem suitable for a new Etisalat WiFi connection?"

I received a similar request from Rahim Ali, a Sharjah-based restaurant manager, yesterday. He said, "I applied for the Etislat Internet connection for my new restaurant. Can I use my modem? Will they help me configure the modem for me?"

I will answer the questions from Rahim Ali and Adil Hussain in this article. I will also cover the configuration of modems like the Aztech HW550-3G, Siemens SE568, SpeedStream 6520, Thomson TEG850, etc.

I will cover the instructions for configuring the modem and router with an Etisalat Broadband connection.

1. Connect Modem with Computer

   You must connect the Ethernet port of your computer to the LAN port of the Etisalat Broadband Modem with an Ethernet cable. Now, power on the modem and computer.

2. Log in to the Etisalat Internet Setup Page

   The Default login IP address of the Etisalat modem and router models is 192.168.1.1. You must type this IP address into the browser address bar. Press the Enter key.

3. Enter the Etisalat Username and Password

   I have received requests from the readers of CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions about the Etisalat Internet Modem username and password. So, let me share that here.

   I share two chances depending on the modem brands.

   1. In most cases, you may leave both fields blank and click the enter key.

   2. If it does not work, use the second common Etisalat router login username and password.

      Etisalat router login username:	admin
      Etisalat router default login password:	admin

   3. You will be on the Setup page. Click on the Advanced tab from the left-hand side menu.

      

4. Clearing Old Connection Details

   Make sure no old connections are in the WAN page. Delete if there are any older connections by using the delete button.

5. Create a New Etisalat Internet Connection On this Modem

   It is the most critical step in configuring the Etisalat router/modem. Click on the new connection.

   

   You should type the Etisalat broadband username and password in the respective fields.

   

   Connection type must be PPPoE (if your ISP does not provide any other details).

   If you want to activate firewall protection on the Etisalat broadband modem, you should check the checkbox in the Firewall.

   You should enable the NAT feature too. The default authentication type must be auto, and you should check the checkbox at Default Gateway.

6. Click on Apply and save the current settings. Once you have saved the configuration, click on the connect button.

   If you cannot go online, I recommend power cycling the Etisalat DSL Modem.

   How Do I Power Cycle an Etisalat DSL Modem?

Althaf, a regular reader of CoreNetworkZ, asked, "I subscribed for the Etisalat WiFi package. Can you explain the necessary wireless settings to protect this network?"

You can set up WiFi and wireless security on the Etisalat router by following the instructions below.

Log in to the modem setup page and click the wireless tab. Change the default WiFi name to your preferred name. Read this table for more details.

SSID	You can change the Etisalat wireless network name here
Wireless Channel	Keep the same channel unless your ISP instructed to change
SSID broadcast	If you turn off, no one will see your wireless network

Activate Etisalat Wireless Security

To enable WiFi encryption on the Etisalat router, click the Security tab.

You can turn on WiFi protection in this window. Type the wireless password in the Encryption key field. Once the WiFi security is activated, click the 'Apply' button.

You can change the Etisalat WiFi password in this window. I know many readers are curious to find where they can reset the Etisalat WiFi password.

A few clients from Dubai contacted me for assistance in upgrading the modem firmware. I believe this section will answer their questions.

I suggested contacting the Internet Service Provider (ISP) or the router manufacturer to download the latest Etisalat modem firmware version.

If you have a D-Link DIR-803 Etisalat modem, visit the D-Link official website to download the firmware.

For an Etisalat Huawei modem, go to the Huawei official website and enter your modem model number to find the appropriate firmware.

Alternatively, you can find Etisalat firmware download links on RouterUnlock.

Always ensure that you download the correct firmware version for your specific modem model to avoid compatibility issues.
