How To Add a Social Share Button To a Blogger Blog?

Updated by: Alex George on May 15, 2025

All my regular readers know I founded CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions as a professional Blogger theme development company.

Back then, Blogger lacked many features. One example was the lack of a post share button. So, I developed a custom HTML code for a Blogger post share button for my customers.

I understood that professional bloggers today cannot ignore the impact of social networks and media sites in driving traffic to their blogs and websites. Adding a social sharing button to a website has become essential.

Do I Need a Third-Party Blogger Post Share Button?

Akash Mathew, a regular reader of CoreNetworkZ, asked, "Hello Alex, I downloaded a new theme. How do I add a share button to this Blogger template? "

Akash was asking how he could add social media buttons to his blog.

Luckily, the recent themes published by the Blogger theme have a Blogger post share button.

While many third-party tools offer this feature, I now recommend that the readers of CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions use the official social sharing button.

Blogger has an Official Social Share button.

With this new feature, sharing blog posts on Google has never been simpler. This tutorial explains the functionality of this Google feature and how to leverage it to increase traffic.

Integrating the social share button into Blogger blogs is straightforward. Let me explain how to do it. Go to the Layouts and check the "Show Share button" option in the Page Elements section of the layout.

How To Show Social Share Buttons on a Blogger Blog?

Let me explain the steps to add a Social Share button to a blog on the Blogspot platform.

  1. Login to Blogger

  2. Click on Layout

    How To add Google plus?
  3. Click on Edit link in "Blog Posts"

  4. Check "Show Share Buttons" and click on save

What If The Blogger Social Media Share Button is Not Visible?

For some templates, simply checking the 'Show Share Buttons' option may not display the Blogger's official share button. If you use an older template, you cannot activate this feature by following the standard steps alone.

Sangeetha Krishnamoorthi, a fashion blogger, said, "Alex, I activated the Social share button on my blogspot blog. But, nothing is visible. Please help."

I checked her Blogspot blog. The template did not support the official Blogger Social Share button.

Sangeetha Krishnamoorthi is a Fashion Blogger From Chennai.

In such cases, we need additional tweaks to ensure the share button appears on every post.

In our last section, we discussed the steps to enable the Blogger official social share button on Blogspot blogs. However, this method does not work for all blogs.

Even after activating the Show Social Share option in the layout, the share button may not appear under blog posts. So, what can you do if this feature does not show up?

The best solution is to manually add the share button code, including Google Plus, directly into the Blogspot template, placing it just below each post. Before proceeding with this step, I recommend reading the previous instructions on enabling the share button.

Manually Adding Blogger Social Share Button HTML Code

  1. Login to Blogger account

  2. Click on Template link

  3. Click on Edit HTML

    Official Blog Share button is not showing
  4. Click on Edit template

    blogger share button html code

    Now Search for the following code

    <div class='post-body entry-content'>
    <data:post.body/>

    Note: You should press [CTRL] [F] buttons together to open Search

    Paste this code below it.

    <div class='post-share-buttons'>
      <b:include data='post' name='shareButtons'/>
    </div>

  5. Click on Save Template

I will conclude this article now. Today, you have learned how to display a social share button on a Blogspot blog.

    Blogger has changed "Expand Widgets" is no longer an option.

  8. The expand Widget option is no longer available.

    Now after you click the "Edit HTML" it will redirect you to a page with "Back" "save template" "jump to widget" and other buttons.

    I noticed that the jump to widget has drop down menu. Anybody can help us out on this? Thanks a lot!

  9. It seems they have changed the format already because after I click the Edit HTML button, they will redirect you to a page with "Back" Save template" "jump to widget" and other buttons.

    The expand widget checkbox is o longer available in the page.

    Any other options aside from this? Thank you!

  12. Thanks admin for updating your post based on new format.

    I still cannot locate the post-entry in the edit html. It seems this is a problem with my template itself. Let me try a few templates and work on your advise and I will let you know (:

    Cheers!
