you don't have administrative rights to run the command- make sure you are in administrative account

Many times we are hearing this error message "you don't have administrative rights to run the command" on our computer while running some commands on DOS prompt. The ironic part is currently we might be logged in as an administrator. After migrating to Windows Vista from Windows XP I received this alert many times. In the primary analysis the reason for the alert is User Account Control issues.

Reason for the error message "you don't have administrative rights to run the command"

User Account Control requires us to run the command prompt as an administrator.

Solution of the issue is to run Command prompt as administrator.

Steps to run command prompt as administrator

1. Click on Windows logo and click search

2. On search type cmd and press enter

3. Right click on the command prompt icon and select Run as administrator.

On the new command prompt the same error message will not occur.
