In our office a hot group discussion conducted based on the topic excessive back link generation in a short period of time. Group is divided in to two based on the criteria whether they follow fast aggressive back link generation to promote their website or only following slow and steady back link generation. As we expected our colleagues took this topic very seriously and various points came out during the discussion. Majority accepted the fact that they are generating too many back links for their websites to improve the PR and SERP of their websites even though they know it can lead possible google penalty. But some guys opposed this google penalty idea for excessive back link generation. According to them google cannot penalize any website for incoming links but out going links can lead to google penalty. So here I am writing down the major points we collected in the topic "getting too many backlinks in a short period may lead google penalty".

Points against Aggressive back link generation

The major points which says no no to fast link building are:

* Google love natural back links and hate any artificial back link generation

Google expect every websites gain back links in a natural way. For example if my website has a high quality article it can attract links from other webmasters. It is a natural growth.

* Back links from irrelevant websites /Pages will be de-valued by google

There is no logic for getting link (reference) from a used car site to cosmetic sites. This kind of links are most probably a part of link sharing scheme.

* After the initial boost google may mark our site as spamming

It is acceptable that excessive back links can show an initial boost for our website but it won't last.Points in favor of fast back link generation

Major points which support the need of fast link building are:

* Google cannot penalise any website for incoming links

According to this point what they are saying is if there is a penalty for excessive back links , it is easy to crack down competitors website by simply spamming that website. Maximum we can expect from google is reduction of backlinks in webmaster tools and possible SERP loss due to the reduction of inbound links.

* Without enough backlinks google will never recognise a brand new website


For any google search phrase we have left first 10 position. Any results after first 10 pages have no potential. To get a google Search Engine Result Position our website need some strong back links.

It is always advised to be with safe side than say sorry. So while link building we should practise natural ways than adopting any artificial way. It is better create back links from selected websites and do it slowly. In every web promotion steps we should read google web master guidelines carefully to avoid any future penalty from google. 3. Total number of links on the page from which we get links
