Now a days we can see many SEO consultants manage to get paid links for their clients to improve the Search Rank position of their clients websites. There is no doubt that paid links can give an initial boost to their clients websites and a drastic improvement in organic Search traffic. So both clients and SEO consultant are happy. It seems everything is fine but actually is it a good SEO practice ? Can paid links keep your Search Rank always high ? These two questions are very important and I am sure everyone know the answer. Paid links can be classified as black hat SEO method because it is an unnatural link development method to manipulate Google Search Rank of a particular website. When Google implement link based ranking algorithm, they hoped in a way that websites with relevant quality content get links from other websites and any spammy website will not get links from other websites. They also differentiate high quality links and low quality links to improve the link based ranking algorithm.
Paid links totally exploiting the concept of only quality websites get links from quality websites and links can be taken as a vote. Here a webmaster pay money to get links to his website from other quality websites and earn a vote (Actually this website does not deserve this vote ). It is not a natural method to get links to a website and totally against the aim of Google. So Google cannot accept this kind of link building method and once a website (which is participating in link trading) is disclosed, it can expect a severe punishment from Google and even the level of punishment can be up to total exclusion of the website from entire Google index.
Is Purchasing links from other websites a Good SEO Practice ?
Purchasing a link with an intention to improve the PR or Search Rank of a website is not a good SEO practice and it can invite Google punishments. So if you are honest to the best wishes of your blog or website, it is better concentrate in developing high quality content for your website. High quality content can bring a lot of natural links to your website. In a long run paid links can only hurt your website.

This is interesting. A lot of money goes into paid links but no one really knows if they're cost-efficient. Nice discovery.
